Tecar Therapy is a physiotherapy modality that uses Transmittable Capacitive and Resistive Electricity (TECAR ) technology to promote the body’s natural healing processes.
The basic principle of the device is based on the use of high-frequency electrical currents to stimulate deep heating of the body’s tissues. This heating in turn improves local blood circulation, reduces pain and speeds up the healing process.

Tecar therapy works in two basic ways. Frequencies of 300 kHz and 448 kHz ensure that RET and CET differ significantly in terms of deep and superficial penetration. The deeper penetration of RET can reach 10 cm without energy loss.
- Capacitive mode (CET): in this mode, the aim is to heat soft tissues such as muscle and fat tissue. Capacitive mode works by using electric fields to attract and repel ions and electrolytes in body fluids, causing an increase in tissue temperature. The resulting heat relaxes the muscles, improves blood circulation and speeds up tissue regeneration.
- Resistive mode (RET): this mode is more focused on heating denser tissues such as tendons, joints and bones. Resistive mode uses an electric current that passes through tissue with a higher resistance (resistivity), causing more intense local heating. The heat helps to reduce inflammation, heal injuries and relieve pain in deeper structures.
